We got back from Utah/Idaho Sunday evening and Jared was sick. He slept for an hour and a half on the plane and woke up throwing up. He threw up like five more times before we landed (about an hours time). He continued to throw up frequently through the evening so finally between 10 and 11 I took him to the ER. There they gave him Zofran which helped immediately and we got home around 1:00 AM.
All Monday he seemed much more himself with a couple naps but lots more energy. The next morning at 5:50 AM I heard Spencer on the monitor throwing up. Ran downstairs and rescued him from his sickened state. I'd much rather have Jared sick then Spencer right now. Spencer cannot aim and doesn't even try. Luckliy he only threw up 5 times in a four hour period of which I was able to catch two of them in my shirt and the other two I had to clean up (first one was in his bed). I also felt worse when Spencer threw up because he doesn't understand what's going on and it scared him and he'd say mommy in between heaves; broke my heart.
So Chris and I thought we were in the clearing but Chris woke up this morning sick as well, after a rough night with the boys... (When Spencer wakes up Jared somehow helps him get out of the crib. This happened for the first time last night but twice, grrrr. This cannot be happening with the baby coming in six weeks! Jared was in a toddler bed and potty trained at Spencer's age but I don't care, Spencer is a different child and I am totally content with him in diapers and a crib for awhile after the baby is here.)
More to come of our last week's adventures...

Stats
I took Spencer in for his 18 month check up and since Jared had been running a fever for 4 days took him in too for a check up.
This practice doesn't give you charts to take home so this is from a rusty memory, I need to call the office and get the official measurements.
Spencer:
Height- ??? - 90%
Jared:
Height- ??? - 85%
I was totally shocked by Spencer only being in the 75th percentile for weight (he's a tank!) and equally shocked that Jared was so high in height. Happy day I hope both boys keep up on those curves and grow tall!
As for being sick that day Jared's fever broke and he was fine. But the next week both boys came down with a fever for again about 3-4 days and I took them in and they both had strep and the flu! Shocker. Neither of them complained of a sore throat or anything. They tested for the flu just to verify it wasn't swine and it wasn't. They couldn't treat the flu but got them both on antibiotics for the strep.
During these two weeks I was sick pretty much none stop. I had a fever with Jared the first week that turned into a head cold which later turned into a sinus infection (holy cow I hope that never happens again! all I can say is half my face felt like it'd been in a fight. I could hardly open my mouth to talk/chew, my cheekbone killed, and I didn't want to open my eye). I was on an antibiotic as well so there should be no more sickness for a little while around here. Chris so far hasn't caught anything. He was sick, not to the extent we were but nevertheless miserable, just before us so I'm glad he didn't get it as bad.
I did learn one thing. If you're going to be couch/bed ridden sick it's great to have sick kids with you. They just curled right up by me and we often fell asleep together. If only you could plan that...

Penicillin or Amoxicillin Anyone???
At first thought it might be a reaction to carrots cause just last night was his first exposure to them. A reaction to the antibiotic did cross my mind but I was confused why he wouldn't have reacted sooner. The doctor didn't think it was carrots and his explanation for a delayed reaction was the body often has to have 10 to 30 exposures before it reacts. I had already given him his first dose for the day and the doctor said he would probably flare up even more tomorrow before getting better. His ear is looking lots better but the doctor said it was still pink but isn't going to put him on any other antibiotic and he said it should continue to heal on its own and to just watch for a fever. Right now I'm putting him on Zyrtec and he's really being an angel. He looks miserable but he doesn't complain much. So for now we have some extra Amoxicillin. And a side note: Spencer gained 7 oz since last weeks check up!

We Split
While Chris headed off to New York for five days for a moot court competition the boys and I went up to Idaho. On a side note, traveling with kids is much better with two adults!
While in Jerome I had a lot of things I wanted to get done but was unable to finish all of them because Spencer got more sick. He had a real phlegmy cough before we left on Wednesday and by Friday he was wheezy so I took him in to a quick care. He was okay but also had an ear infection. I had Jared there too and the doctor checked him out as well and low and behold the same ear, right, was infected as well. I got them both some antibiotics and headed back to my mom's house. Spencer's breathing didn't improve for the next few days so I didn't venture out really at all.
Since being home though I've taken him to the doc for quick check up and he's doing good and the ear infection is gone as and so is Jared's. The whole time I felt great and just this evening I am feeling a head cold coming on. GRrrrrr.
While in Jerome we were able to do the following:
Pictures from the Trip: (All but one of the cousin pictures are of my sister Valerie's kids, Jared got along really well with Scotty and of course loved Katie (the blonde) like usual.)

While in Jerome we were able to do the following:
- Go to Baillie's basketball banquet
- I went running with Heidi
- Helped my sister Valerie start a blog
- Finish prepping some receiving blankets so I can crochet around the outside (Thanks Mom!)
- Play with grandmas and grandpas, aunts, uncles, and cousins
