Happy Father's Day Chris!

You know you're a good dad when you share half of your breakfast in bed with your kids and...
at the end of the day they curl up beside you and fall asleep.
I'm so glad they have you for their dad!

Spencer Moments

Related to Jared and his water stories Spencer has one that I'm not proud of but kind of funny/more disgusting. Lately I've caught him twice where he's leaning over the toilet with his face in the downward motion with his tongue sticking out! My immediate response, which I do, is yell "Spencer GROSS!!!" and run and go get him. Boys, boys, boys... Spencer also knows how to drink from the faucet in the bathroom. They learn those tricks early at the Meservy household:) and NOT because of me! Below is a clip I took after finding Spencer trapped in our pantry. I hurried and got the camera and got this:

Both my boys LOVE pickles and nuts, something Chris does not understand in the slightest. Last night Spencer kept going to the fridge pointing to the pickles and finally Chris took them out and once he did Spencer had the biggest smile and started dancing and twirling like we were giving him a big bowl of ice cream. I totally understand. I love pickles:)

This happened awhile ago but talking about the fridge reminded me of it. Spencer has been really difficult as of late and I know it's a phase but honestly want it to end soon. First he went through a phase of possessiveness and wanting to push everyone and now he's into crying constantly because sometimes he wants things and other times I swear he doesn't even know what he wants but just cries because he's not content for some reason. Anyways, back to the first phase and the fridge. There was a period of time where he was possessive of the fridge. He'd open it up sit in it and just wait for someone to approach him. One day Jared went up to him to see what he was doing and Spencer charged him and pushed him back. Jared looked at him and walked away. About 5-10 mins later Spencer again opened the fridge. Jared took a more safe approach by observing him accross the room by the dishwasher (8ft away). But Spencer still charged him right into the dishwasher. Oh child of mine! He still gets in the fridge often but luckily he's not possessive of it anymore.

Jared Moments

Jared loves the ice and water dispenser from our freezer. The other day when it was unlocked I saw him filling up some cups and then when I looked back he was pushing the lever with his mouth up there trying to catch the water. Chris, who was standing there as well, told him not to do that and then turned to me with a smile and said, "Even though I did that as a kid too." Such a boy thing to do. On a related topic if I've locked the water dispenser on the freezer than he'll run to the bathroom climb on the counter and drink from the faucet.
This last Wednesday Jared had a nap so you never know what to expect when putting him down for the night. Sometimes he'll stay in bed and other times he'll come out. This night he came out after an hour or so after we put him down. After being up for awhile he was ready to go back to bed but he wanted to sleep by me in my bed. I decided I could go to bed a little early on a couple conditions: #1 I told him when dad came to bed he'd move him down to his bed, #2 he couldn't suck his thumb, and #3 I just looked at him and he answered for me "I can't touch your lips." (He touches my lips all the time and I especially can't stand it when I'm trying to sleep.)

When we got back to the bedroom I knelt down and told him I needed to say a prayer and he said, "Just like me?" and I said yes. Then I was quiet for a moment trying to decide whether I should say a verbal prayer in front of Jared or the usual silent prayer in my mind. Before I'd decided Jared piped up asking, "Do you want me to help you?" So sweet. So he helped me with my prayers that night and I loved it.
At the end of May Jared's T-ball ended. Chris came to his last session. Only the last two or three weeks did they hit off the tee and run the bases. Jared loved that part.

Dino Museum

Last week the boys and I went to the McCormick Museum on a free day with our friend Beth. The boys LOVED it! Seriously Jared couldn’t get enough and kept asking little questions here and there and we had to keep probing him on. Usually it’s the other way around, me wanting the kids to slow down so I can read something. Here are just a few shots we got while waiting for Beth to arrive:
After the museum we took the train, “L”, home, I hate paying for parking, $18, and the boys love the train so much so why not!? We got the front car so the boys could see all the oncoming trains and buildings and they had a ball. Spencer’s hat got turned to the side from hitting the window so many times. Check out Jared’s reflection:)

Hair Cuts

I hate haircuts and so do my boys. #1 I don’t like the wiggling and crying and #2 I hate cutting off Spencer’s curls.
Here’s the most recent picture I have of Jared and Spencer before their haircuts and the most recent after.
(Note: Spencer’s hair didn’t always look that unruly but it goes to show it was time.)You can definitely tell an age difference in the way they eat and keep themselves clean:)
