Quick Trip to Idaho

Friday after Chris' classes we headed up to Idaho for my niece Nicole's baptism. We had to head back early Sunday morning for Chris to get back to church but I'm so glad we went. After she was baptized Jared wanted to do it and said, "My turn" while attempting to take off his shirt.

It's never long enough especially when we have both of our families there but I guess that makes it twice the fun:) Since being home Jared quite frequently asks, "Where's my grandma(s), Where's my cousins, or Where's my Baillie". Loved indeed is that little boy.

One morning we were there I did a paper route with my nephew Jacob. Man that's a lot of work for 5:00 in the morning. Good for those boys (Jacob, Kimball, and David).

Above is Spencer and Emily, Valerie is in the red dress and Nicole's mom. I have another picture of her but promised I wouldn't put it on sorry it's a side profile of her.
I had to add this picture cause it's not very often that we get a picture of just the two of us and not many of those pictures do I like of the two of us. Lunch at Chili's with Great Gram Camille with her boyfriend, Chris. (My Chris would prefer him to have a different name as he says it is very confusing:) This was his first time meeting the whole family, except Trent. That can be overwhelming at times (me alone is overwhelming and you wouldn't quite understand that unless you knew me, really knew me!)

Swimming with Cousins

Monday was a FUN day. Ang and Moe, and their kids, came south to pick up a car they'd purchased and wanted to go swimming while they were down here at Lehi Legacy Center. I live closer to this facility but had to be enlightened by my sibling who lives much further away. Chris was unable to come due to the competition he's running so I had the help of my little sister Cami to assist me in watching two little ones in the water.

If any of you reading this live near or in Utah County this is a place to go. Kids 3 and under are free and adults $5 (I can't remember the kid price). The bottom of the pool is a padded material and it's totally kid friendly (really shallow so toddlers won't go into the deep end. Jared was a little water bug. He went on lots of slides and would always come out under the water which scarred him a couple of times but that didn't deter him from going again. He even wanted to go on the really big, black slide but I refused! He wouldn't have been wailing the whole way down I just know it! Any how I'll let the pictures show how much fun we had. Spencer liked the water but got cold half way through it so we bundled him up on the sidelines. On the way home Jared was hungry. I'm glad I thought to make a sandwhich and bring chips and oranges. He ate almost the whole way back home:)

Every day since he's asked to see his cousins and go swimming!

Easter 2008

Admist my lack of posting of the previous holiday we did indeed have a happy Easter:) Chris' family stopped in on their way back from St. George and it was great to have them here. Chris has been really busy being in charge of the 1L Moot Court try outs for law school so their added help was very much appreciated! We went to Pioneer Park for an Easter Egg Hunt. Chris was able to slip away for about 30 mins for the action. We all almost missed it but got there right as the five minute warning was given. Chris got there first, then Cherie, Jared, Spencer, and me, and his sisters (Ashley, Mal, and Bai) got there right before it began.

Jared was in the little division and they had a TON of eggs! He loaded up on lots of eggs (I found it rather odd though that a lot of the candies in the eggs were hot, cinnamon bears and fire balls) Spencer was a good sport. The weather was nice but a little cool and he was content the whole time:)

Our at home easter egg hunt was fun but not near as fun since there was a lack of kids for Jared. His favorite part was decorating the easter eggs in the dye. I ended up having to throw away the eggs in the end because I tried a new way of cooking the eggs that was suppose to be better with less cracked eggs but the eggs didn't cook all the way through.

In the end we had a wonderful Easter and I love holidays with a child who is "getting it". I'm excited for the Spring to come and I think it's so appropriate to celebrate our Savior's Resurrection when things are coming back to Life!

Cookies and Cupcakes

Today Jared got in our drawer that holds our cookie tins (strangely he hardly opens this lower drawer). He saw the tin and asked me, "cookies?" I happily replied, "No cookies" since there were cupcakes in there that were left over from St. Patrick's Day. He then got a questioning look on his face and then asked, "Cupcakes?" I was silent. Why did he have to remember we had made cupcakes. He then opened it and was delighted to find sugar in some form and chowed down a cupcake while I hid the rest on top of the microwave.

Early Easter Egg Hunt

Wednesday was a beautiful day and we were able to go to our play group and hunt for easter eggs. Jared really got the hang of it and soon realized there was candy in the plastic eggs. I love being outside and letting Jared play with friends. He frequently asks to play with his friends or go to nursery, or his latest: "I want my cousins". He loves playgroup and frankly so do I since other mothers are there:)

This was our first time back to the park since last year and I love how Jared is able to do so much more! He was able to do most everything last year but I was always close by because he was tipsy. But now I can be several feet away without worrying! It's great!

Boys and Makeup

Jared wanted to brush his teeth one morning so I put him on the vanity and let him go at it. While he was brushing I started playing around with the trimmers on Chris' shaver and started touching up Jared's hair (around the ears, neck, ect) Well while I was at it he got a tube of my mascara and went at it. I didn't stop him either because he rarely lets me cut his hair without a fight. By the time I was done this is what he was able to accomplish:)

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Our family got a special treat today, we got to go to my cousin Darcee's house and have dinner and FHE with her little family. Her house was gorgeous and her compilation of pictures, frames, colors, and textures was so fun to take in. I can't comprehend how people are able to be so creative becuase that's just not something I am able to do.

It was an enjoyable evening and I loved seeing her kids. I was especially impressed with Caleb, her second oldest. He was so sweet and tender with our little Spencer and his own little sister. And we loved their boys enthusiasm for football, especially BYU football.

I'm so appreciative to Darcee and the opportunity of going into her home. What a special family that has such a sweet disposition and spirit. Thank you!

Rice Cereal, YUM!!!

Wednesday I gave Spencer his first taste of food other than milk. He probably isn't ready since he kept pushing it out of his mouth but I continued because every time I stopped he would scream at me. Today, being the third day I've given it to him, he's doing much better but still hasn't mastered it.

Boys and Forts

I don't know if I lack creativity or if my creativity is hindered by the fact that I don't want to clean up the mess that I've "created". So because I don't create too often I have a husband who does and I still get to clean up most the time:) Their latest creation was a fort.
What boy or child has not created a fort in their lifetime. I totally remember throwing blankets over items and crawling inside. Jared loved it and when dad's not home he asks to make a door because Chris always told him to use the door to enter. I'm so grateful for Chris and his young mind. I love to see him play with Jared and do things I wouldn't initially do. My boys are so lucky!

We Split

While Chris headed off to New York for five days for a moot court competition the boys and I went up to Idaho. On a side note, traveling with kids is much better with two adults!

While in Jerome I had a lot of things I wanted to get done but was unable to finish all of them because Spencer got more sick. He had a real phlegmy cough before we left on Wednesday and by Friday he was wheezy so I took him in to a quick care. He was okay but also had an ear infection. I had Jared there too and the doctor checked him out as well and low and behold the same ear, right, was infected as well. I got them both some antibiotics and headed back to my mom's house. Spencer's breathing didn't improve for the next few days so I didn't venture out really at all.

Since being home though I've taken him to the doc for quick check up and he's doing good and the ear infection is gone as and so is Jared's. The whole time I felt great and just this evening I am feeling a head cold coming on. GRrrrrr.

While in Jerome we were able to do the following:

• Go to Baillie's basketball banquet
• I went running with Heidi
• Helped my sister Valerie start a blog
• Finish prepping some receiving blankets so I can crochet around the outside (Thanks Mom!)
  
• Play with grandmas and grandpas, aunts, uncles, and cousins

On the way back to pick Chris up from the airport Jared was excited to see his dad but continually kept asking to go back to grandma's.

Oops!!!

One night a few weeks ago our family went to institute. During the class we let Jared watch a video on the laptop. Well he must have really enjoyed the video we were showing him that night because he waited too long to tell us he needed to go the bathroom and wet through his clothes and a little on Chris. Being the creative person I am I was able to squeeze him into one of Spencer's diapers and used a onsie for shorts. He looked funny but he was comfortable. Chris ended up going home and changing and I asked him to bring the camera back with him.
