Miles Stats

This little guy is so fun. All I have to do is smile at him and he laughs or smiles back. I wish I had my camera with me the first time I put him in a swing... he giggled and absolutely loved it!

This week Miles will be 7 months! CRAZY! He's had his 4 and 6 month check ups and I haven't recorded anything so here's both and in two months we'll do his 9 month stats:)

4 months:
weight: 14 lbs 7 oz 40%
height: 25 in 25%
head: 50%

6 months:
weight: 16 lbs 12 oz 50%
height: 26 1/2 50%
head: 75%
He sits up great but doesn't roll lots. He has yet to roll from his back to his tummy. The doctor wasn't concerned though since he sits up well. I think part of the problem is now that he sits I hardly ever put him on his belly anymore. I'm trying to be better at giving him tummy time still.

Stats

I took Spencer in for his 18 month check up and since Jared had been running a fever for 4 days took him in too for a check up.

This practice doesn't give you charts to take home so this is from a rusty memory, I need to call the office and get the official measurements.

Spencer:

Weight- 26 lbs - 75%
Height- ??? - 90%

Jared:

Weight- 35 lbs - 90%
Height- ??? - 85%

I was totally shocked by Spencer only being in the 75th percentile for weight (he's a tank!) and equally shocked that Jared was so high in height. Happy day I hope both boys keep up on those curves and grow tall!

As for being sick that day Jared's fever broke and he was fine. But the next week both boys came down with a fever for again about 3-4 days and I took them in and they both had strep and the flu! Shocker. Neither of them complained of a sore throat or anything. They tested for the flu just to verify it wasn't swine and it wasn't. They couldn't treat the flu but got them both on antibiotics for the strep.

During these two weeks I was sick pretty much none stop. I had a fever with Jared the first week that turned into a head cold which later turned into a sinus infection (holy cow I hope that never happens again! all I can say is half my face felt like it'd been in a fight. I could hardly open my mouth to talk/chew, my cheekbone killed, and I didn't want to open my eye). I was on an antibiotic as well so there should be no more sickness for a little while around here. Chris so far hasn't caught anything. He was sick, not to the extent we were but nevertheless miserable, just before us so I'm glad he didn't get it as bad.

I did learn one thing. If you're going to be couch/bed ridden sick it's great to have sick kids with you. They just curled right up by me and we often fell asleep together. If only you could plan that...

Spencer Update

Spencer's been 15 months for awhile and is now closer to his 16 month marker but here are roughly his stats from his well baby check-up:

Height: 32 in 95% (Yeah!!!!!)

Weight: 25ish lbs 75%

Head: 90%

I was surprised his weight wasn't in a higher percentile. That kid is a tank!!! You pick him up and he is dense. I tell you my boys are my workout! As for everything else he looked healthy as could be. The only thing of any concern was his speech. The doctor asked if he could say 3-6 words. I really had to think. I was finally able to think of some and asked if he was ok. She said yes he's just on the lower end and they'll check again at his 18 month check up.

The words I was able to come up with: head, duck, woof, milk, all done (signing), mama, dada, hot

Since the check up he has added the following words: juice, outside, thank you, uh-oh, hug (mind you these words are baby words, only if you're around him a lot would you recognize what he was saying)

I may be missing some but those are the main ones. The minimum he needs to be able to say by 18 months is 10 words so we should be covered. The doctor didn't seem worried at all but it started me working harder that's for sure. I know I don't work or spend as much time in repitition with Spencer as I did with Jared but the more I think about it a lot of it is due to different personalities. Jared would let me read for an hour to him if I would. I would fall asleep reading books to him and just close my eyes through the whole book while he turned pages. I had so many books memorized with that kid and many of them were longer children books. Spencer on the other hand I feel lucky if I get through a book with him. Nevertheless I have been trying harder to repeat simple words that I think he can get through pointing or whatever.

Spencer is a sweet little guy and also very vicious. He loves to get reactions so he likes to pull hair, bites, pinch or whatever. It's so hard not to react to because he HURTS! And the hardest part is after he does it and you react he laughs so he's too darn cute. When I do get after him with a stern voice it often breaks his heart and he cries. Jared then gets defensive and tells me to be nice to Spence. Spencer loves Jared and Jared loves Spencer. Jared just has a hard time sharing his things. But my favorite is when they slip away downstairs on their own and start playing. I often go sit on the stairs watching their play. Heartwarmer for sure. I love those boys!
