And since I'm talking about sleeping I'll note that Spencer no longer gets out of his crib. I think he may have hurt himself one time so now he doesn't even try. Even during the day if he gets in it to play with Jared and friends I have to get him out because he won't do it. I'm down with that!

Nothing Quite as Soothing as a Baby
Babies really are calming. One night Spencer wanted me to lay Miles by him. I did and wondered how long it would last. I stood near by for awhile and decided to lay by Jared a safe distance away and wait. After awhile I realized Spencer was asleep. This is what they looked like:
You may not be able to tell but he's holding the pacifier in place with his hand.
Another night Jared wanted me to lay Miles by him as well. I love the feel of babies!

The Great Escape
As mentioned earlier my little Spencer has chosen for himself to be in a toddler bed. How is it going??? Well I thought fairly well the first week. I put him down for naps and evenings and he stayed in bed. But... this whole time he's been extremely tired and wanted to go to bed. Now he wants to sleep with Jared in his big bed which is way too high for him. The last few nights Jared and Spencer have slept in the toddler bed together. So far so good. The only bad thing is they'll wake each other up in the mornings.
Another thing Spencer was doing when he switched to the toddler bed and before sleeping with Jared was coming up at random hours of the night because he could (no longer trapped in the crib.) But the two nights he's slept with Jared both boys have stayed in bed the whole night... knock on wood.
So I wrote the above portion last week. And since then it's been great! Jared and Spencer sleep in the little toddler bed together and even though it's small they have plenty of space because they like sleeping right by each other. I honestly thought them sleeping in the same bed would be worse but they don't get up as often, they stay in bed better when put down, and sleep in a little longer. It's so sweet to sneak in and look at them. Sometimes one is hugging the other or their hands are on each other's faces. Tender little moments...
Also worth noting... Spencer has a favorite blanket. Whenever he wakes up he wants it and loves me to wrap it around him when he's tired. He doesn't have to have it all the time but definitely prefers it to any other blanket. And the best part is it's a cute blanket so I don't mind at all. My friend Wendy made it for him and she did a beautiful job. The front is flannel squares and the back has that silky feel (I have no idea what it is.) Thanks Wendy! (I don't know why I don't have a current picture of Spencer with his blanket, He really does LOVE it!)

Sick House
We got back from Utah/Idaho Sunday evening and Jared was sick. He slept for an hour and a half on the plane and woke up throwing up. He threw up like five more times before we landed (about an hours time). He continued to throw up frequently through the evening so finally between 10 and 11 I took him to the ER. There they gave him Zofran which helped immediately and we got home around 1:00 AM.
All Monday he seemed much more himself with a couple naps but lots more energy. The next morning at 5:50 AM I heard Spencer on the monitor throwing up. Ran downstairs and rescued him from his sickened state. I'd much rather have Jared sick then Spencer right now. Spencer cannot aim and doesn't even try. Luckliy he only threw up 5 times in a four hour period of which I was able to catch two of them in my shirt and the other two I had to clean up (first one was in his bed). I also felt worse when Spencer threw up because he doesn't understand what's going on and it scared him and he'd say mommy in between heaves; broke my heart.
So Chris and I thought we were in the clearing but Chris woke up this morning sick as well, after a rough night with the boys... (When Spencer wakes up Jared somehow helps him get out of the crib. This happened for the first time last night but twice, grrrr. This cannot be happening with the baby coming in six weeks! Jared was in a toddler bed and potty trained at Spencer's age but I don't care, Spencer is a different child and I am totally content with him in diapers and a crib for awhile after the baby is here.)
More to come of our last week's adventures...
